Pixel 5a teardown is surprisingly tedious

High-end phones are often built with more expensive materials and designs that, more often than not, it is difficult to open repairs. Instead, traditionally medium telephones are more easily disassembled, although the trend changes now. The new Pixel 5A seems to be part of the trend that changes it, and while it is easy to start, Google’s unconventional design and assembly requires too much work to replace the most basic components.

Opening pixels 5a is actually a little easier even though it’s still at risk. You need to apply a slight heat to unplug the screen, which is held in place with the same bracket used in pixels 5. However, someone must be careful in which direction to lift the screen because the display cable connector is hidden below the bracket.

Pixel 5a does not use as much screws, but uses a varied screw with a variety, adding more work to the demolition process and reassembly. Google also employs three pull tabs for batteries, two of which are really hidden from the display, and everything is useless. PBKreviews must use alcohol to dissolve adhesives.

This phone also has several pieces of black plastic cover that is easily lost and doesn’t seem to do anything but acting as a “filler.” Apart from the motherboard, most components are chaotic on the backplate rather than in the middle frame. The USB-C charging port is soldered on the mainboard, making it very difficult to repair, while the speaker assembly cable is hidden under the mainboard, so you have to delete the last one first to get to the former.

PBKreviews provides pixels 5a 5 out of 10 in terms of repairs, but it might be a generous score. It is almost ironic that the screen may be easiest to remove and replace this time, but almost all other components are not. YouTube channels also note that Pixel 5A can easily support wireless charging coil, but Google might decide not to take into account additional making costs.
