New Google Pixel 6 leaks point to ultra-wideband and a Samsung 5G chip

Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro is official, but many details about them are not – we still don’t know exactly when they will go on sale, for example. Meanwhile, two new leaks have helped fill some gaps with respect to the specifications of upcoming cellphones.

First up is a comment from Google engineer on Android Codebase (via 9To5Google) which mentions Ultra-Wideband support (UWB) in Pixel 6. It is a super-precision location tracking technology that drives devices such as Apple Airtag and The Apple Samsung Galaxy Smarttag Plus.

It seems that the same technology comes to pixels 6 cellphones, as previously reported, and some pixel tags are not entirely out of the question. Including UWB will help pixels 6 and Pixel 6 Pro keep speed with cellphones such as Galaxy S21 and iPhone 12, which also displays Ultra-Wideband.

Choose your 5G

The second rumor may be more attractive to industrial observers than end users, but it is better to know: According to Reuters (via Phandroid), a pixel 6 handset will display a 5G modem produced by Samsung. Until now, pixel cellphones (including pixels 5A) have used a Qualcomm made modem for 5G.

On the one hand, this is not surprising, because we have heard rumors that Samsung has collaborated with Google on a special tensor chipset that will power the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. It makes sense that other silicon bits are also part of the discussion.

On the other hand, this is unusual – this is the first time Samsung 5G chipset has been used in smartphones that are not made by Samsung. As soon as we have a new cellphone, we will tell you how well they appear in terms of the next gene connectivity.

Analysis: Pixel 6 forms become a full seed

Google has avoided a superior problem from the smartphone spectrum with a recent pixel cellphone, but it will all change with the arrival of pixels 6 and pixel 6 pro, based on what we know (or think we know) so far.

With Pixel 5A is available as a more affordable choice (at least in the US and Japan), Pixel 6 handset is free to take the best phone on the market. Google throws as many high-end technology as possible on this cellphone, in an effort to take the iPhone 13 and Galaxy S22 for the next six months or more.

Google has made its own custom processor, improving the camera, and considering the phone designed a significant reshuffle too. Now we hear that it throws ultra-wideband too, and obviously there is a discussion about which 5G components to use too.

Add the best hardware technology for all that we know pixels can be done on the side of the software – producing fantastic photos, doing an impressive AI tricks, and more – and the next generation of this series of mobile phones forms very interesting for those who shop at The superior tip of the market.
