Panasonic’s wearable gaming speaker sits on your shoulders and looks kind of weird

Hate the game wearing a headset? Gaming Speaker Panasonic GN01 can be used should make the headset and ear hair clogged the past thanks to a design that is installed on the shoulder.

That’s right: Instead of sitting on top of your lug holes, Panasonic GN01 resting snugly on your shoulders, and promised to provide “a realistic surround sound” of the four speaker channels.

GN01 comes with three specific gaming mode, developed with sound team final fantasy online at Square Enix. You can choose between ‘modes of play a role, which should create a “sense of reality and intensity’, ‘mode first person shooter’, is set to help you hear a sound like a trail and a ‘voice mode’, if you want to hear the dialogue in the game with a bang and clear.

GN01 also includes cinema mode, music and stereo, if the gaming mode above do not take Fantsy you, so you can watch your favorite Adam Sandler movie or listen to metallica using more customizable EQ settings.

Panasonic GN01, which is referred to as ‘soundslayer’ for maximum horror, it also allows you to chat with your friends. Panasonic said that the GN01 is equipped with a “high-performance noise and echo canceling dual microphones,” which is designed to prevent interference from the speakers of your shoulder while you chat.

Unfortunately, Panasonic GN01 not wireless. Instead, you have a three meter long cable snake to the console or PC, and audio cable is required if you want to use the GN01 on the Xbox console. Beware, then, if you forget you are wearing devices on your neck before you turn to the bathroom.

Opinion: Can a headset attached at the shoulder into the future?

As someone who has a gaming headset countless, difficult to see the appeal of Panasonic GN01 immediately. Have speakers mounted in the shoulders is not the most practical design unless you live alone, and the prospect of having long cables that connect from my console to turn off my own couch.

But that does not mean I’m not interested in the potential GN01. If you can create a convincing surround sound experience, it can be a great option for those who do not want to buy a soundbar or do not have the room to accommodate a 5.1 home theater speaker setup.

It will also be interesting to see how it handles voice chat. By the sounds of splashing around you, right where the microphone was, I wanted to know if it would work to prevent your audio leak into your conversation.

Panasonic GN01 released exclusively through Amazon for $ 199 / £ 159.99 and will be available late September 2021. It is compatible with the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
