YouTube iOS picture-in-picture for free users may finally have a release date
After months of waiting, many iPhone users can now use the YouTube Picture-In-Picture feature through the application platform, eliminate the need to open videos on Safari to use PIP mode. This feature was promised earlier this year after the user complained that they could only access features if they signed up for Premium.
Back in June, YouTube said that he launched image-in-picture support for premium customers in the US that access the platform using iOS devices. At that time, the company also promised that its pip support for iOS would arrive for free users in the US later.
If you head to the YouTube Experimental Feature website, you will note that the image-in-picture for IOS is registered as one of the capabilities that can be accessed by youtube users. Experimental options allow youtube premium users to access and test new features before release for everyone, including non-premium users.
According to YouTube, this feature can be used in the same way as on Android: When watching videos in the application, swipe up or press the Home button to close the application. The video will automatically shrink into a small window at the corner of the screen, allowing you to keep watching content when sending messages, playing games, or whatever.
Figure-in-Picture mode on iOS will be available for users of the Premium experimental feature until October 31, after the point where the feature must be widely launched for everyone on the iPhone to use, even though YouTube has not confirmed exactly when a free user will be able to access it. YouTube notes that it still works on the current features, so it might change a little before it was launched.
