Samsung smartwatches rise to third spot in global market in Q2 2021
After an uncertain start, the SmartWatch market seems to finally find a call and stable. In fact, the last half a year may have affected market growth because more and more people become more aware of their health. Like smartphones, not all players are winners, and for the second quarter of this year, Samsung has managed to rise to third place, even though it is still lagging behind Huawei in the global market Smartwatch.
It might be, surprising to hear that Huawei had managed to take and save the coveted place. Reasoning research, however, thinks that it might not last long because the smartphone business of the Chinese company has continued to decline. That’s the consequence of binding Huawei’s watches so closely with the smartphone and its ecosystem, which also saw a steep decline in recent months.
Apple was still on the head of the race, even if the market share fell to 28.0% compared to 30.1% from the same second quarter of last year. Apple Watch, however, only reached a 100 million user base milestone, strengthening its position as the leader of the Smartwatches. The two newest Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE are the top choice of quarter among consumers.
Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Watch Active 2 are also credited for Samsung’s rise into one third. Things can begin to look better for companies now have adopted the OS Wear for Galaxy Watch 4 Series, opening the door for more people away because of the platform that can be used by Tizen Samsung. We will not see the effect, until possible after the fourth quarter of 2021.
Overall, the SmartWatch market managed to grow by 27% year-to-year, with India named as the fastest growing market. The status quo, however, can be immediately angry with the proliferation of the new sub-100 segment consisting of Xiaomi, Oppo, and RealMe, the segment that records 547% astronomy growth every year.
