Niantic, the developer behind Pokemon Go, has announced that it will return wider access distance to players who interact with Pokéstops and a fitness center. Go, however, the game designed to get people out and about, which is not a good idea when there is a global breathing pandemic that knocks. That is why, like Covid-19 began to bite, Niantic made a longer interaction, to prevent groups from crowding in the public area.
In addition, the company also makes remote RAID battles, and adventure synchronization works far more effectively from home, given the number of people who have to isolate. The normal calendar of real world events is moved online, too, and many of the shop transactions are cut at a cost.
As a Polygon report, the Niantic Flip-Flop here is driven by social media protests after some of these changes are reversed. The company dialogue with players, with policy changes planned for September 1, with players requesting a better appreciation for safety and accessibility.
