This popular WhatsApp mod riddled with malicious code
The evil version of the popular WhatsApp mod has been detected distributing Triada Mobile Trojan, Cybersecurity researchers have found.
FMWHATSApp mod adds some useful features for Messenger stock applications for things such as customization, privacy and security.
Marked by Kaspersky, infected evil mod download other Trojans and can launch advertisements, spend subscriptions, and intercept SMS users.
“With this application, it is difficult for users to recognize potential threats because the mod application really does what is proposed – it adds additional features. However, we have observed how cyber criminals began to spread dangerous files through ad blocks in such applications,” Comments Igor Golovin, a security expert in Kaspersky.
Remain in the official application
According to Kaspersky, actor threats have polluted the FMWHatapp Line mod by filling out the trojan-haced version (V16.90.0 precisely) among official releases.
The researchers noted that the trojan-infusion version first gathered details about the device, and then pulled another Trojan, which showed further harmful behavior.
To avoid victims of the decline in polluted applications, Golovin suggested that users only download software from the official app store, while carefully checking the permissions sought by the application.
“They may lack some additional functions, but they will not install a lot of malware on your smartphone,” Golovin’s knot.
